One of our members from South Africa submitted the following:

Am I alone? I have moved from a wheelchair to a walking stick. Nobody cares. Is our society not sensitive to people with disabilities? How do you integrate into society? Must I just stay in my wheelchairr when I go out in public?

    Survivors, what do you think?

You are not alone. One step at a time. Most likely your situation will improve. I returned home in wheelchair. Used a walker for about 3 months. Then I have been walking unassisted.
The best way to integrate with the society is to work on things we survivors can make a difference better than anyone else. For example, driving changes in the post discharge stroke care.
